Theft from INS Vikrant Kochi; 2 under custody

Police has managed to catch 2 persons in link with the theft that happened from INS Vikrant, Kochi. Reports suggest that both were contract labours, who came to paint the ship. The incident that took place last year, saw in the loss of hard disk, RAM and processors from four computers installed in the under construction Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC). Following the incident, which embarrassed the Cochin Shipyard authorities, NIA had examined the fingerprints of more than 1,000 people.

The result of the hard work of more than two decades, INS Vikrant is expected to complete its construction and start sea trials by February 2021. Costing more than Rs. 20,000 Crores, INS Vikrant is expected to be part of the force by 2023.
