Sibi George appointed as the new Indian Ambassador to Kuwait

India appointed new Ambassador to Kuwait. Malayali IFS officer Sibi George will be the next ambassador for Kuwait. The decision was taken yesterday by the Foreign Ministry to reinstate ambassadors from several countries.

Current Kuwait Ambassador K Jeevasagar is retiring at the end of next month. According to The Hindu newspaper, Sibi George was nominated for the position.

He is a 1993 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service. His first assignment was as a political officer in Egypt. He was appointed First Secretary in Qatar, Political Counselor to the Indian High Commission in Pakistan, and later as Political Counselor and Commercial Counselor in the United States.

He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Saudi Arabia and Iran. He was the coordinator of the East-Asia Division and the Indo-Africa Forum Summit at the Foreign Ministry Headquarters in Delhi.

Siby George, who specializes in Arabic language, was awarded the SK Sing Award for Excellence in IFS in 2014.

He hails from Pala of Kottayam district. He married to Joyce John and has two daughters and a son. He has been ambassador to Switzerland from November 2017.

Sibi George is the second Indian Ambassador to Kuwait from Kerala. BMC Nair better known as Kalika Mohan is the first Indian Ambassador to Kuwait from Kerala.
