The Indian railways has tricked its passengers from Kannur, as the Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express, which was supposed to leave Kannur at 4.50 am on Monday, departed from Kozhikode. It was at the last minute that the Railways changed their plans, without giving any prior signals. As railway authorities had changed their plans late night, the train left Kannur railway station at 12:15 pm; an emptied Jan Shatabdi reached Kozhikode railway station. The reservation of passengers from Kannur was accepted and travelers had to arrive at the station about one and half hours before the scheduled departure. Due to the unforeseen action from the railways, the journey of those who had reserved tickets from Kannur was halted.

As was informed by the officials, the railway had completed all preparations for the departure from Kannur. However, it is informed that the health department hasn’t given nod to commuting passengers from Kannur. The rise in Covid cases in Kannur has reportedly made health department to not give consent to the plans of railways. Railways officials maintained that the ticket will be refunded for those who missed the trip. It is not clear whether the Jan Shatabdi Express will resume its regular service from Kannur in the coming days, or not..
