June 6 Covid Update: 108 new cases and 1 death in Kerala

Today, the state received 108 new Covid cases. A total of 98 cases are for those who came from; of these, 64 are from overseas. 34 came from other states, while 10 got the disease through transmission. Incidentally, the state has also marked 50 samples that turned negative. Meanwhile, the state also marked 1 death – Former Santosh Trophy player Ilayadathu Hamzakkoya, who died at Manjeri Medical College.

With today’s report, the total number of cases in the state has risen to 1805. 776 were treated, while the state has got 1029 active cases right now. The number of new Covid cases in the state, with the district wise break up is as follows,

Kasargode – 10

Kannur – 12

Wayanad – 3

Kozhikode – 4

Malappuram – 12

Palakkad – 11

Thrissur – 16

Ernakulam – 3

Idukki – 3

Kottayam – 2

Alappuzha – 4

Pathanamthitta – 9

Kollam – 19

Thiruvananthapuram – 3

Similar to previous days, it is Maharashtra that contributed most number of cases to the state, 15, followed by Delhi (8), Tamil Nadu (5), Gujarat (4), Madhya Pradesh (1), Andhra Pradesh (1). Palakkad district can sigh as the number of positive cases has come down drastically. Similarly, the district lead the list of negative cases with 30. The other negative cases are as follows, Kozhikode (7), Ernakulam (6), Kannur (5), Idukki (1), and Kasargode (1). As far as overseas figures are concerned with, UAE (28) leads, followed by Kuwait (14), Tajikistan (13), Saudi Arabia (4), Nigeria (3), Oman (1), and Ireland ().

Though Palakkad can sigh for today’s figure, it however marked the most number of cases through transmission (7). Apart from Palakkad, Malappuram (2) and Thrissur (1) too recorded positive cases through transmission.

Having added 10 more hotspots today, the total number of active hotspots in the state has reached 138. A total of 1,83,097 people are under observation in different hospitals across the state.

State government has requested public to stay vigilant and maintain physical distance. The coming weeks are quite crucial for the state, as the state is all set to open religious institutions and shopping malls. With the state is getting ready to start antibody tests from Monday onwards, more numbers of cases might report in the coming week.
