In a terrible news for Team India, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022 due to a stress fracture. No surgery will be required but Bumrah is expected to take time of 4-6 months to recover from the injury.
He has not travelled with the team to Thiruvananthapuram where the first T20I took place between India and South Africa.
Bumrah had earlier missed the entire Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. He spent around a month at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to recover, post which he was selected for the T20Is vs Australia. He missed the first T20I at Mohali but played the remaining 2 matches.
In a tweet yesterday before the IND vs SA 1st T20I, BCCI had tweeted that Bumrah would miss the 1st T20I. “Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first #INDvSA T20I,” the board had tweeted out.
