Heavy rains expected in Kerala from August 3: Yellow alert in all districts

The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Kerala from August 3. By August 4, low pressure will form in the Bay of Bengal. If it becomes severe, there is chance for dangerously heavy rainfall in the state.

As a precautionary measure, a yellow alert has been issued in all the districts of the state on August 3 and 4. The state will receive widespread rains these days. The state has been experiencing heavy rains and floods for the past two years as part of the low pressure that formed in August.

Fishermen have been warned not to go to sea until August 4 as strong winds at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour are possible. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki are likely to receive heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday. A yellow alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod, and Wayanad districts.
