Delhi: The Supreme Court criticized DMK leader and minister Udayanidhi Stalin for his controversial statement related to Sanatana Dharma.
The Supreme Court has observed that Udaya Nidhi Stalin violated the right to freedom of expression and religion given by the Constitution.
The reference is to a bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta. Udayanidhi had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding that all the cases related to Sanatana Dharma in different states should be transferred to one place.

The Supreme Court criticized the petition. Udaya Nidhi Stalin violated the constitutional right to freedom of speech and religion.
Udaya Nidhi is a Stalin minister and not a common person. The bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna also pointed out that Udaya Nidhi Stalin was aware of the impact of his comments.
At the same time, the Supreme Court adjourned Udayanidhi's plea to next Friday. The statement of Udayanidhi Stalin comes from last September.
Udaya Nidhi Stalin's statement was that Sanatana Dharma should not be simply opposed but eradicated like malaria and dengue.
Udayanidhi Stalin later explained that he was against the caste system. But BJP was discussing the issue at the national level.
