Mangaluru: Abhin, who was arrested in the case of acid attack on three female students in Mangaluru, is a Malayali MBA student, police said.
Police said Abhin, who came wearing a mask, targeted one of the girls. But the girl's friends were also victims of the accused's attack.
The second year female students of Kataba Government PUC College in Dakshina Kannada were attacked. Three girls were preparing for the Karnataka Board Pre-University Examination at the college verandah.
That's when a young man wearing a mask and a hat came on a bike and approached the girls. Unexpectedly, he threw acid on a girl.
Acid fell on the faces of two other girls who tried to stop the assailant. One of them was severely burnt on the face. Before Abhin could escape, the college authorities caught him and handed him over to the police.
The girls who suffered burns on their faces were immediately shifted to the hospital. The girls are undergoing treatment at the Kadaba Community Health Centre.
Meanwhile, the police said that one of the girls rejected the accused's love. One of the attacked girls is a Malayali.
Abhin hails from Nilambur and is an MBA student in a college in Kerala.
