Woman arrested in Karipur with 1.8 kg of gold hidden in underwear

Police seized gold worth Rs 1 crore, which was trying to be smuggled from Dubai through Karipur airport. Shahla (19), a native of Kasaragod, was arrested by the police outside the airport for trying to smuggle 1.884 kg of gold in mixed form.

The woman tried to smuggle the gold into three packets and hide it inside her clothes. The seized gold is worth Rs 1 crore in the domestic market. The young woman arrived in the Air India Express from Dubai at 10:30 on Sunday night. The woman came out of the airport at 11 o’clock after the customs check, and the police took her into custody based on a tip-off.

Despite being questioned for hours, the young lady answered all of them in defense. Then the luggage was subjected to a detailed inspection. The police could not find anything. Later, during the post-mortem of the woman, gold was found hidden in three packets expertly stitched inside her underwear. Being interrogated in detail.

Efforts are on to find those behind the gold theft. The seized gold will be submitted to the court and a detailed report will also be submitted to the customs for further investigation. This is the 87th case of gold smuggling caught by the police outside the Kozhikode airport.
