Taking care of your teeth is as important as taking care of any other part of your body. It includes maintaining good oral hygiene, eating healthy food and regular dental checkups. Start brushing baby teeth as soon as they erupt because they are more prone to decay. Use fluoridated tooth paste for children and only a pea sized amount is required until 6 years. Both adults and children should brush twice daily for 2 minutes. Replace your toothbrush every 3 months. Thoroughly wash your mouth after every meal. Dental floss and inter-dental brushes can be used for food impaction. Mouth washes can be used to control bad breath. Quit harmful oral habits like smoking and chewing tobacco as it not only stains your teeth but can leads to oral cancers too.
Always have a healthy diet which includes fiber rich fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, cereals. Reduce sugar consumption ,sticky foods and snacking in between food as it increase tooth cavities. Avoid alcohol and other carbonated drinks
Regular dental checkups necessary even if you are not having any symptoms of disease. Cleaning your teeth every six months is recommended for healthy teeth. Seek dental consultation if you have pain, swelling, sensitivity, bleeding gums, irregular or loose teeth.
Always keep in mind losing one of your teeth is like losing any organ of your body.so always seek dental treatments at the earliest.
