It seems like Malayalam cinema has entered a promising, but puzzling situation. With film makers coming forward to announce their projects, Malayalam cinema world is slowly becoming busy again. However, interestingly four movies have been announced in Malayalam based on the life of the historical figure, ‘Variyamkunnath Kunjahammad Haji’. Four different film makers, Aashiq Abu, PT Kunjumuhammed, Ibrahim Vengara, and Ali Akbar have all announced their respective movies based on the historical incidents happened in 1921 and the persona of Variyamkunnath Kunjahammad Haji.
While Aashiq Abu’s project has already gained an extra mileage, owing to the presence of Prithviraj as the titular character, along with the controversies surrounded with the project. All of them are looking to cash in on the 100th anniversary of the 1921 incident with their respective narratives.
