The decision of FIOK that allowed OTT release for Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’, received flaks from various quarters of the film fraternity. While issuing the statement, FIOk made it clear that it was only the Anto Joseph production venture that gets exemption. FIOK maintained that it wouldn’t cooperate with makers of films that opt OTT releases over theatrical release. However, it was piracy that was cited as the reason by Anto Joseph, while requesting an OTT release for his movie. He tried to clear the air by stating that piracy coupled by a delayed release would only do harm for the theatrical prospects of the project.
Earlier, when the decision of FIOK came, directors like Aashiq Abu and Aashiq Usman – who also produce films – came up with bash criticisms. Now, producer Shibu G. Suseelan has come up with raising some serious doubts over the sudden entry of pirated copies of ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’. He asked the producer of the movie, Anto Joseph to clarify from which studio, does the copy of the film came out. In an open letter written to Anto Joseph, the ace producer also asked whether the former has filed a case against that studio. Shibu G. Suseelan also suggested that no filmmaker should go to the particular studio, which leaked the copy of the film.
