Tips for clearing Common Law Admission Test

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the most promising entrance examinations, which the country’s brightest minds look forward. With the passage of every year, CLAT is witnessing an increase in the number of candidates appearing for the test. A total of 20 National Law Universities are there in India – out of which National Law University Delhi, conducts a separate entrance test for admitting students to it. Students compete for a total of 2,200 seats available across the rest of the 19 National Law Universities.

For facing such a competitive examination, featuring negative mark system, you have to be well prepared to face the pitfalls. There would be a total of 200 questions present in CLA and you will be given 2 hours of time. A total of 5 sections constitute the 200 questions. The division of each section is as follows,

Law Aptitude – 50

GK – 50

English – 40

Basic Mathematics – 20

Reasoning – 40

The following tips can come handy while you attempt this highly sought after examination.

1. English and GK should be the first sections, which you attempt. While attempting, both these sections require comparatively less effort and time from your side. The two sections should be followed by ‘Law Aptitude’. Finally come, the ‘Reasoning’ and ‘Basic Mathematics’ sections. The last ones are time consuming and require your full attention.

2. In order to attempt reasonably well the GK section, you should have the habit of reading newspaper reports and noting down important points.

3. Going in line with the syllabus, it is evident that you should have a basic knowledge of law system. While covering the section, give importance to Indian Constitution and Indian Penal Code

4. Have a thorough look over the previous year question papers. This will help you in a great deal. For those who haven’t covered the detailed syllabus, better mark this tip in bold letters.

If you are serious about CLAT, then following these steps can help you in clearing the cut off. However, make sure that you attempt couple of mock tests before the rear test begins.
