Internship for foreign MBBS students is now only in medical colleges

MBBS from foreign countries One year compulsory internship of students who complete their studies will be done only in medical colleges. Although the Medical Commission had issued instructions in this regard last September, many states, including Kerala, were delaying the decision due to explanations.

The government has instructed the state medical council to allow internships in approved medical colleges, including those in the self-supporting sector, after the commission’s stance was toughened.

For this purpose, the State Medical Council has started the process of preparing the list of those who have not started their internship and those who are currently doing their internship after conducting provisional registration from January 2020 to November 30, 2022.

At present, a large section of the students coming from outside are allowed internship in taluk, district and general hospitals. More than 600 students are doing internship in various hospitals. The change in the existing system is based on the decision of the National Medical Commission to allow internship in colleges with study facilities. PG It is also suggested not to grant internship to MBBS students in the institutes.

Medical graduates from foreign countries are granted temporary registration by the State Medical Council after qualifying the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) after verifying the certificate.
