The Mahatma Gandhi University Syndicate Committee has reportedly found mistake on the BVM Holly Cross College’s part, in the incident of a degree student committing suicide in Kottayam. The committee’s report stated that the student was forced to sit in the exam hall for close to 45 minutes, even after accusing her of cheating the exam. The report pointed out that this was against the code of conduct, which the college was expected to follow. If a student was found cheating the exam, the University rules and regulations mandate the college authorities to shift the student from the examination hall.
The regulations also mandate that the college authorities couldn’t impose the regular time schedules on such a student. The suicide of Anju Shaji, a third year B.Com Student from Kottayam, has created quite a lot of controversy, when her father accused College authorities for mentally torturing his daughter. However, the controversy was further escalated as college authorities claimed innocent and maintained that they were just doing their job and asserted that the student cheated on the exam. It was then that the University Syndicate appointed a committee to make a detailed report of the incident.
