The central government has finally lifted the ban on the export of hydroxychloroquine. It was after findings that the anti – malarial drug could be a partial solution to Covid 19, that the country decided to put a cap on the export of hydroxychloroquine from the country. India, being the largest producer of hydroxychloroquine, received massive requests from elsewhere and the US President Donald Trump even tried to make some tough negotiations, and the Modi government decided to ease some of the norms, though the ban remained there on the turf.
However, with the department of pharmaceutical lifting the ban on the export of hydroxychloroquine, companies that produce hydroxychloroquine can export the medicine without any major caps. However, all the manufacturers except SEZ/EOU units would have to ensure the supply of 20% of their production in the domestic market.
