On the wake of counting, Kasargoke district collector has imposed section 144 in both Kallyat and Periya. The curfew would come in effect from 8 am on 23rd, and would continue till 8 am in the next morning. The curfew is imposed in an area of 500 meter around the town areas of both Kallyat and Periya. Earlier, it was on February 17th, when the double murder of Kripesh and Sarath took place in Periya.
Subsequently, a number of people including the CPM local secretary Peethambaran got arrested on their involvement with the murder of the two youth congress activists. Though not imposed any curfew elsewhere, the whole state is under strong surveillance of police forces, with the vote counting process is about to start in hours.
