Kerala Lok Sabha Elections 2019: UDF storms into power

As the results of Kerala Lok Sabha Elections 2019 got announced, it has come to be known that UDF has managed to edge out its opponents in a huge margin. At the end of the day, UDF has won in 19 out of the total 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala. Now, this has come to be a surprise for the state – not for the results, but for the way with which LDF conceded defeat. Even staging strong opponents, LDF hasn’t managed to produce enough result, thereby underlining the anti incumbency wave.

During the course of their record win, UDF has outweighed LDF in many of the latter’s stronghold constituencies, including Palakkad, Alathur, Kasargode and Attingal. While many reasons were being pointed out by experts, it was the way in which the government dealt Sabarimala issue, that managed to grab the most attention in all the discussion tables. However, BJP, which was expected to encash in Sabarimala issue, hasn’t managed to open an account in the state this time. The presence of Rahul Gandhi too has helped UDF to decimate LDF to its all time low score in the history. That said, the national politics hasn’t given any bright color for either of them, as BJP led NDA has made an emphatic victory, by a winning margin of close to 2/3.
