Kerala on Monday evening defeated Bengal (5-4) to lift the seventh Santosh Trophy at the Payyanad stadium, Malappuram.
The match went into extra time as both teams failed to score in the allotted time. It then went to a penalty shootout after both Kerala and Bengal managed to score one goal each in extra time.
Dilip Orwan scored for Bengal in the 97th minute while Safnad scored the equalizer for Kerala in the 117th minute. Kerala eventually won 5-4.
