Russia named its Covid Vaccine ‘Sputnik V’

The first recognized Covid vaccine in the world was named Sputnik V by Russia. The Russian vaccine will be known by this name in foreign markets. The vaccine was named “Sputnik V” in memory of the world’s first artificial satellite.

Kirill Dimitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said it was a sign of Russia’s success as the world’s first satellite and the first country to approve a vaccine against Covid19. He added that the vaccine they have developed has already received orders for 100 million doses from 20 countries.

The announcement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The vaccine has only been tested for less than two months. Some experts have expressed doubts about Russia’s hasty vaccine production.
