Protests in Kozhikode turned violent; police used tear gas

The protests conducted by Yuva Morcha and Youth League in Kozhikode have turned violent and police used tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. The protest was conducted, demanding the resignation of CM Pinarayi Vijayan over the gold smuggling case. Several media personals too got injured during the havoc.

Earlier, it was after facing pelting from the protesters that police was forced to use react. Initially, Youth League staged a protest, after which came the Yuva Morcha activists. Incidentally, both the protests have turned violent and the injured activists and media personals have resorted to nearby hospitals. While commenting on the protest, police said that the protesters have never followed social distancing and violated all the covid protocols, which resulted in police using force.
