Thiruvananthapuram: Former minister K.T. criticized film director Priyadarshan. Jalil. KT Jalil's criticism is related to the omission of Indira Gandhi's name from the National Film Award.
He blamed Priyadarshan's intelligence behind the omission of Indira Gandhi's name from the National Film Awards. Jalil was speaking during the budget discussion in the assembly.
Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's name has been dropped from the National Film Awards. Director Priyadarshan is the only Malayali in that committee.
Jalil alleged that it was Priyadarshan's wisdom to avoid Indira.
At the same time, it was announced that the name of the Indira Gandhi Award for the debut director's film will now be just the award for the debut director's film.
Famous actor Nargis Dutt's name has also been omitted from the award for the best film for national integration.
Indira Gandhi was excluded from the film awards as per the recommendation of the committee chaired by Neeraja Shekhar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The committee consists of Priyadarshan.
