The police released sexual abuse accused cop CI Sunu again without recording his arrest. The police’s justification is that despite three days of questioning, they did not find evidence to arrest Sunu.
Sunu appeared before the investigation team on Tuesday at 10 am for interrogation which was led by Thrikakkara SP. The woman’s statement was also recorded on the same day. However, the police said that they did not get any crucial evidence to arrest Sunu.
According to the statement of the alleged victim, CI and his accomplices gang-raped her in Kadavanthra and at her house in Thrikakkara, Ernakulam. But the investigation team found that there is a contradiction in the statements.
In 2021, Sunu PR, a Circle Inspector in Kerala Police, was remanded for 14 days in a molestation case. He has faced departmental disciplinary proceedings eight times. Currently, he is accused in three molestation cases. Despite such cases, he was then transferred to Beypore with promotion.
