As the number of Covid patients in Kerala is on the rise, the state government has come up with, giving sanction for private hospitals to treat patients. The decision came at a time, as the government estimates the number of patients in the state could be as high as 40,000. That said, the government is yet to clarify on the treatment charge in private hospitals, which it can levy from patients, who haven’t received prescription from government hospitals.

Upon showing Covid symptoms, one can seek treatment in private hospitals, and can be performed. If the results are positive, the treatment can be done there. Though private hospitals in the state have shown willingness to provide all the facilities, they haven’t received guidelines from the government.

Right now, those who have received prescription from government hospitals, can approach private hospitals to take Covid treatment. Such patients are charged Rs. 2,750 in terms of the RTPCR examination rates. It is not clear, whether government would go with the same norm for those who haven’t been referred by government hospitals as well. It is now estimated that the number of fresh cases in Kerala could reach 1,700 a day by next week.
