No bus charge hike in Kerala

The Division Bench of Kerala High Court has stayed the High Court Single Bench order, which approved bus charge hike in Kerala. It was over the appeal filed by the State government, which the division bench has taken the stance. While producing the verdict, the bench considered the tax exemption given by the state government for the bus owners for three months. The court order also asked the Ramachandran Commission to hear the version of the bus owners, regarding the stance. The final report from the Ramachandran Committee will thus be prepared in the coming days.

Earlier, the single bench had approved for a temporary bus charge hike during the Covid times, owing to the financial situation of bus owners. It was also proposed to increase the student concession rate to 50% of the normal rates.
