Maruti Suzuki has hiked the price of its models in India by 2 percent, up to INR 25,000. The effective hike would be between INR 5,000 and INR 25,000. It was the increasing production cost, which was cited by Maruti Suzuki, which apparently forced them to increase the price of their models. Earlier, Hyundai too had announced a similar price hike of its models citing the same reason.

However, industry leaders are of the opinion that the latest price hike would not be affecting the market share of Maruti. More and more players are expected to come up with similar decision on the wake of production costs. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch two new models in India – New Ertiga and Ciaz Facelift.
