While Coolpad and Xiaomi are already in tussle in China over patent infringement issues, the former is taking the battle over to Indian space as well. Coolpad officials maintained that they were keen to functioning in Indian market by protecting their IP assets. Pointing out the instance of Ericsson – Xiaomi case, Coolpad is going all the way for repeating the Chinese scenario in India. According to the officials, a number of Xiaomi models such as Xiaomi 6, Xiaomi Note 3, Xiaomi 5X and Mi Mix 2 have all used the patents of Coolpad.
Earlier in January this year, Coolpad’s Chinese subsidiary submitted as many as 7 patent cases against Xiaomi. Coolpad is seeking an immediate ban on productions and sales of some of the Xiaomi models.
