Mohanlal’s Marakkar is doing a magnificent box office performance. The film went on to garner a record collection on its first day of release. On the first day, Marakkar earned around Rs 6.7 crore from Kerala. It is the biggest opening of a Malayalam film this year. Marakkar broke the record of 4.7 crore achieved by Kurup.
Similarly, if you look at the all time kerala top opening collection list, Marakkar, came in second behind ‘Odiyan’, has overtaken ‘Lucifer’. ‘Odiyan’ topped the list with 7.2 crore, followed by Marakkar with over 6.7 crore and Lucifer is in third place with 6.6 crore.
Marakkar, who broke the UK box office record with Rs.58 lakh on the first day, also broke the Australian box office record with Rs. 25 lakh on the first day. The film grossed over Rs.50 lakhs in two days in Australia. Marakkar, who had a great opening in the US and New Zealand. Also set a new Mollywood record by grossing 2.8 crore in the UAE premiere show collection. Kurup, who earned Rs 2.4 crore, was overtaken by Marakkar.
The film’s first day world wide collection is also on record. It is reported that the first day of the world wide collection of Marakkar is Rs.25 crores. Kurup is second on the list with a net worth of Rs 19 crore.
