Major Setback for Apple : Apple would pay $ 25 for those with iPhone Battery Problems

Apple Corps has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit against Batterygate for $ 25 for slowing down customers’ older iPhone models without prior notice. Apple Corps has apologized to iPhone users for one of its biggest crises in history.

Apple will have to pay around $ 25 for each iPhone owner who qualifies to make a claim. Tech websites report that Apple will have to pay a total of $ 31 million to $ 500 million to settle the case. The exact amount received by each person may vary slightly depending on the number of claims received.

Apple will pay compensation for iOS 10.2.1 and later iOS 11.2 or later for iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus and SE models. Users have a specific website to submit a claim to. The claim can be made online or by mail. All claims must be submitted online or sent by letter mail by October 6th.

In 2017, Apple admitted that software updates had slowed down some iPhone models with substandard batteries. The iPhone maker said the update was needed to prevent the phone from shutting down unexpectedly and save the life of the devices.

A group of consumers in France has fined Apple 25 million euros for deliberately slowing down some older iPhone models. Apple has already filed several lawsuits alleging that it is slowing down its devices.

The plaintiffs allege that Apple should have informed consumers that their phone was slow due to a software update. They also hid the fact that if the battery was replaced, the operation would be reversed. Consumers say they would have replaced the battery if they had known about it and would not have had to buy a new phone.
