The prestigious Nehru Trophy Boat Race was held on Punnamada Lake on Sunday. And Pallathuruthy boat club’s Mahadevikadu Kattil Thekkethil chundan (snakeboat) scored a hat-trick by winning the race.
Nadubhagom chundan of NCDC Boat Club, Kumarakom won the second prize in the tight competition which ended in a photo finish.
About 77 boats including 20 chundan vallams participated under nine categories in the 68th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.
Minister KN Balagopal inaugurated the race on Sunday. Andaman Nicobar Lieutenant Governor D.K Joshi was the chief guest of the event.
