Famous poet and lyricist Bichu Thirumala (80) passed away today. He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday morning. He was being treated for a heart attack. He has written over a thousand songs in over four hundred films. About 5,000 songs, including film and devotional songs, have been written by Bichu Thirumala. In the seventies and eighties, along with composers Shyam, A.T. Ummer, Raveendran, G Devarajan and Ilayaraja, he presented many hit songs to the Malayalees.
He was born on February 13, 1942 in Sasthamangalam Pattanikunnu house to Parukuttyamma and CG Bhaskaran Nair. Birth of Bichu Thirumala, also known as Sivasankaran Nair. The bitch was his nickname.
