KTU Year Out System New Rule & Guidelines

KTU Year Out System New Rule & Guidelines : Kerala Technological University notified the relaxation & new rules regarding the year out system of B.Tech courses, which implemented to improve the academic standard of the engineering education in the state.

KTU Year Back System Explained : Minimum cumulative credits required to register for courses in higher semesters.

  • Minimum Credit requirement eligibility changed to 5th & 7th Semester entry (before it was required for 4th, 6th & 8th semesters)
  • 26 credits required to enter Fifth Semester (credits should be acquired from 1st & 2nd semesters)
  • 52 credits required to enter Seventh Semester (credits should be acquired from 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th semesters)
  • 3 chances per year for each subject

Failure of the KTU Year Out System after the changes 2017:

  • Student who pass for 6 subjects out of 24 from 1st & 2nd semester will be able to secure the prescribed 26 credits & become eligible to study in Fifth Semester.
  • Likewise a student become eligible to study in Seventh Semester if he/she able to get 52 credits, which can be acquired by passing at least 12 subjects out of 36 of 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th semesters.
  • Another drawback of the system change is that a student will be able to reach the halfway of his studies (course) without passing a single subject.
