KSEB to install free solar power plant in 800 houses

The Kerala State Electricity Board will install rooftop solar power plants over 800 houses in the state. A total of 500 houses constructed for the homeless under the Life Mission Scheme and 300 houses provided by the Scheduled Caste Department will be selected for the solar power plant project.

Residents can consume the power generated through the plant and at the same time earn an income by selling solar power after consumption.

A solar power plant of two kilowatts which generates 8 units of power per day will be installed in houses under Life Mission Scheme. KSEB will incur Rs 1.35 lakh for installing a single plant. A fund of Rs 6.75 cr including Rs 1.75 cr as subsidy from the central government will be utilized for the project in 500 houses.

A house will be able to sell 1200 units to KSEB and raise Rs 4000.
