The Greater Cochin Development Authority has confirmed that the next season of the Indian Super League will hold ten matches in Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. The inaugural match will be in Kochi.
Kerala Blasters FC will start training in Kochi in August, said a statement from press release.
The GCDA will back the Blasters and the matches in Kochi will be helpful to improve the development of the sport in the state. GCDA will improve the facilities in the stadium. The press release stated that the Authority will also provide land for the first football museum being started by Blasters.
The development comes after Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) director Nikhil Bhardwaj held discussions with K. Chandran Pillai, the chairman of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) which owns the Nehru Stadium.
