Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s social media post, in which he was seen critical of the state’s handling of Covid, met with criticisms from some corners. However, the director has come up with an explanation that he never intended to accuse the state for mishandling the pandemic. Rather, he made it clear that though the state is handling the situation reasonably well, the current infrastructure wouldn’t be adequate for Kerala to cope with an unprecedented outbreak.

In the last post, he shared his experience of waiting before a group of people in a hospital for Covid testing. He was also unable to conduct his Covid testing, owing to the large number of people present therein. The director made it clear that such a situation was undesirable, as the state’s infrastructure would fall short of meeting a number, which we have seen in epicenters.

He once again asserted that Kerala’s Covid management has been exemplary till date. What he wanted to convey was the ways in which the state needs to improve in managing the pandemic. He also hoped that authorities would bring in necessary changes to make the condition better and keep the disease under control.
