July 16 Kerala Covid Update: Kerala registered 722 new cases, 481 cases through transmission

In line with yesterday, today, Kerala registered a total of 722 new Covid positive cases. Incidentally, this happened to be the biggest single day spike that Kerala has registered till date. The number of samples that turned negative stands at 228. With this, the total number of covid cases in Kerala has reached 10,259, while the state’s total active cases have reached 5,372. A total of 4,866 people have recovered from the disease. Amongst those who have turned positive today, 157 are from overseas, while 62 came from other states.

The number of case through transmission is inching towards the 500 mark, as the state registered 481 cases in the past 24 hours. Out of the cases through transmission, 34 remain untraced. 12 health workers, 5 BSF officers, 3 ITBP officers, have been tested positive for the disease. The state has also recorded 2 more Covid death.

Right now, 1,83,900 people are under observation, with the number of institutional quarantine standing at 5,432. Today, Kerala has tested a total of 16,052 samples. With this, the total number of routine samples tested by the state, stands at 2,68,128. The results of 7,797 test results are yet to come. Today, a total of 804 people have been admitted to hospitals. Kerala, right now, has a total of 271 hotspots.
