As the temporary staff nurse recruitment to Kottayam District Hospital had taken place without meeting Covid – 19 guidelines, the DMO has ordered the suspension of interviews. As the District Hospital is also functioning as the Covid care center in Kottayam, it raised concerns of authorities. However, it came as a relief, as the hospital is not having any active patients undertaking treatments. As the queue to the road became too long, even ambulances could not make it to the hospital. The police reached the spot and tried to control the traffic.
The notification stated that the temporary recruitment was for filling 21 vacancies for contractual period of one-month. District medical officer Jacob Varghese said he did not expect to see so many people. Anyhow, interviewees were told that they would be interviewed online, hereafter.
