Huawei has set up its SMT (Surface Mount Technology) line in partnership with Flex near Chennai. The PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembling unit in Sriperumbudur, will help Huawei cut down the effective price on its smartphones in the country. Huawei India officials maintained that Huawei smartphones would soon have India assembled PCBs. While commenting on the dame, company officials were of the opinion that, the same would help the company to not increase the price of its smartphones in the country, though the country had recently imposed PCBA duty on imports of populated PCBs.
Earlier, Xiaomi too had set up a PCB assembling unit in Sriperumbudur, wherein it partnered with Foxconn.
