Hotels in Malappuram and Kozhikode to remain closed until July 15; official announcement might come tomorrow

Hotels and Restaurants Association will convene a meeting tomorrow, which would discuss matters regarding the opening up of hotels in the state. With Kerala along with the rest of India getting ready to brace ‘Unlock 1.0’, several hotels in the districts of Malappuram and Kozhikode have expressed their unwillingness to open their outlets. While the Association has asked unit committees to submit a detailed report regarding the security issues in different parts of the districts, it is expected that the hotels in Malappuram and Kozhikode will remain closed till July 15th.

With the Covid cases in the state witnessing an exponential rise, most of the hotel owners have taken a similar stance. They are of the view that soon after the hotels start functioning, it would be a tough task to contain the pandemic. However,  takeaway and parcel facilities are expected to continue without any interruption.
