Last day, when the UAE Consulate Gunman’s attempted to commit suicide, it received quite a lot of coverage from the media. Now, a probe is on the incident. Commenting on the same, both the Customs department as well as police department concluded that the incident was the result was a planned one. Gunman Jayaghosh’s statement was recorded by the magistrate. Customs too will record his statement, besides his phone records will be checked; a friend of Jayaghosh too in under the observation.

Meanwhile, it is said that Jayaghosh had feared that he would be killed by the members of the gold smuggling gang.  He feared that he might be mistaken by the gang, as the one who leaked the gold smuggling information. It was then, that Jayaghosh decided to kill himself, before being caught by the gang. Hiding in the woods all the night, it was by 11.30 am that he cut off the veins. Earlier reports also suggested that he had swallowed the blade used for cutting the veins. However, Customs department is of the belief that this statement was a lie. They have also launched an investigation into Jayaghosh’s bank accounts.

According to Jayaghosh’s friend, and fellow policeman Nagaraj, Jayaghosh had told him that there were big gangs behind Swapna and the complete control of the consulate was under Swapna.  On the other hand, Customs department is of the view that Jayaghosh had a clear idea about the gold smuggling. The whole incident of disappearance and suicide attempt, according to the investigating team, might be part of a cover-up.
