Fake Certificates; Direction to cancel Thalassery sub-Collector Asif K Yousuf’s IAS status

Central Govt. give directions to cancel the IAS post of Thalassery Sub-Collector Asif K Yousuf’s IAS post. The Union Ministry of Personnel has written to the chief secretary demanding the abolition of the IAS post of Asif K Yousaf. The action comes after a complaint alleging that Asif had obtained fake certificates from the IAS.

It is found that the certificates Asif K Yousuf produced before the IAS examination were fake including the income certificate. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sent a letter to the Union Ministry of Personnel confirming the investigation. He has also been instructed to cancel his OBC certificate. Asif will be prosecuted under Article 12 of the All India Service Probation Act.

The OBC reservation is available only if the family’s annual income is less than Rs. 6 Lakhs. But in the three years immediately preceding the writing of the exam, Asif’s family has been earning over six lakhs. Action will be taken against the Tehsildars of Kanayannur who issued this forged certificate.

Meanwhile, Asif K Yousuf’s IAS has not yet been confirmed as he has not received a vigilance clearance from the state government. Because of this, he remains on probation. The Ministry of Personnel has also stated that the government can take action against the officer without further investigation. However, the state government has not taken any action even after the Center sent a letter on May 11.
