Facebook transparency report: India second only to the US

As Facebook released the transparency report regarding the requests it had received from various governments for account data, it comes to be known that it was the US, which topped the list. Making a total of 53625 requests before Facebook, US made it to the top of the list for the second half of the year 2017. India, which came second in the list, made a total of 17262 requests before the social media giant.

The second half of 2017 proved to be substantially higher than the first half, in terms of requests received by Facebook. The reports of Facebook, shows that the number of requests for account data has met with a 4% increase, compared to the first half. While releasing the report, Facebook also maintained that it had tightened the security of its platform. As was shown in the report, the company has managed to detect as many as 98.5 percent of the fake accounts created during the first half of 2018.
