CUSAT CAT 2018 B Tech Syllabus:
Test for First Degree programmes in Engineering and Technology (Test code 101):
The test 101 comprises of 250 objective type multiple choice questions based on Plus Two syllabus. Of this, 125 questions will be from Mathematics and 125 questions will be from Physics and Chemistry with physics to chemistry ratio maintained at 3:2. The duration of the test will be three hours. The admissions to the following courses are based on the score in this test:
1. M.Sc. in Photonics (Five-year Integrated)
2. All B Tech Programmes excluding Lateral Entry to B Tech Programmes
For the Test 101 separate minimum score of 10 marks in each of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is compulsory for being qualified to be included in the rank list. This requirement of minimum marks, however, will not be applicable for candidates coming under SC/ST communities.
CUSAT CAT 2018 B.Tech LET ( Lateral Entry) Syllabus:
Test for Lateral Entry to III Semester of specified B.Tech Programmes (BLET)
(Test code 102):The Lateral Entry Test for admission to III Semester of the B. Tech course comprises 200 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency in English (20 questions), Mathematics (50 questions), Engineering Mechanics (40 questions), Engineering Graphics (40 questions) and General Engineering (50 questions). The test shall be of 3 hours duration and the maximum marks will be 600.
CUSAT CAT 2018 MCA, MSc Computer Science, MLET Syllabus:
The aptitude test 502 comprises of 150 objective type questions designed to test aptitude and capability of an applicant for pursuing the MCA (Lateral Entry)/MSc Computer Science Programme. 100 questions will be from Computer Science and Applications covering areas such as C, C++, Data Base Management Systems, Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems at the Bachelor Level of Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications while the remaining 50 questions will be to test the ability of the candidate in logical reasoning based on pictures, geometrical figure, pattern of words, number sequence, logic decoding, Basic mathematics etc.
CUSAT CAT 2018 BBA, LLB (Hons) and BCom, LLB (Hons) Aptitude Test Syllabus:
The common Test for B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) / B.Com, LL.B (Hons.) (Test Code 201)
comprises 150 objective type in two parts as given below:
Part I of Test 201:
Law related matters – 25 questions
Reasoning/ Logical thinking – 50 questions
Part II of Test 201:
General English – 50 questions
GK/Current Affairs – 25 questions
The rank list for admission to BBA LLB and BCom LLB will be prepared on the
following criteria:
Part I of CAT : 25% weightage
Part II of CAT : 25% weightage
Group Discussion: 30% weightage
Interview : 20% weightage
The candidate can select either or both of the honours programmes, BBA-LLB or
BCom-LLB in any order at the time of option registration
CUSAT CAT 2018 LLM Syllabus:
Part I – Proficiency in English and General Knowledge, Analytical and reasoning
capability and aptitude to do research.
Part II –Compulsory papers in Law as prescribed by the Bar Council of India.
The rank list for admission to LLM will be prepared on the following criteria:
Part I of CAT : 35% weightage
Part II of CAT : 35% weightage
Group Discussion : 15% weightage
Interview : 15% weightage
CUSAT CAT 2018 MA Hindi Syllabus:
Test for M.A. Hindi (Test code 301) comprises 150 objective type questions at a level answerable by candidates with Hindi as a second language at degree level.
CUSAT CAT 2018 MBA (Full Time/Part Time) Syllabus:
Test for Management Programme MBA (Full Time) / (Part Time): For MBA courses of the University, the admission to the 2017 batch will be based on the score obtained in KMAT of Kerala or C-MAT (conducted by AICTE) or CAT (conducted by IIM) and performance in Group Discussion and Interview conducted by the University. However, they must also submit their applications on-line to the University within the stipulated time as per the CAT 2017 Notification.
CUSAT CAT 2018 MCA Syllabus:
Test for MCA (Test code 501) comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test the aptitude and capability of an applicant for pursuing the M.C.A programme. About 50% of the questions will be from Mathematics covering areas of Engineering Mathematics / B.Sc. subsidiary level Mathematics while the remaining questions will be to test the ability of the candidate in logical reasoning based on pictures, geometrical figures, patterns of words, Number Sequence, Set Theory, Logic decoding etc.
CUSAT CAT 2018 PG Syllabus:
The Test for PG Programmes (Tests codes 602 to 604, 606 to 615, 617 to 618)
comprises 150 objective type questions designed to assess the proficiency of the
applicant at the Graduate level in the test subject chosen by the candidate.
Applicants for PG programmes (other than M.A. Hindi) may choose and specify any
one of the 16 subjects (listed with Code Numbers 601 to 604, 606 to 615 and 617 to
618) compulsory to the programme for which the admission is sought for. In the case
of programmes for which option of more than one Test is provided the candidate
may choose any one of the options that suits best to the subject of his qualifying
degree. The Test “601 Biotechnology” comprises 150 objective type questions
giving equal weightage to areas of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry. For the Test
Codes 602 to 604, 606 to 615, 617 and 618 the name of the Test as given under
clause itself shall be the subject of the Test.
CUSAT CAT 2018 MA Applied Economics Syllabus:
Test for M.A. Applied Economics (Test code 616) comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency of the applicant in Economics at the Graduate level. (50 % of the questions will be from Economics, 15% from Simple Mathematics, 15% from Statistics and 20% General awareness.)
CUSAT CAT 2018 Engineering Science Syllabus:
Test in Engineering Science (Test code 607) is for testing the aptitude of an applicant for admission to the interdisciplinary programme M.Sc. Environmental Technology (Stream 1).
CUSAT CAT 2018 Life Science Syllabus:
Test in Life Science (Test code 611) tests the subject knowledge as well as aptitude of an applicant for admission to various interdisciplinary programmes. Questions will therefore be from the areas of Life Science / Medical Science / Agricultural Science, which a graduate in any of the above branches of study should be able to answer.
CUSAT CAT 2018 LLB (3 year) Aptitude Test Syllabus:
Test Code 619 comprises 150 objective type questions in two parts as given below:

Aptitude Test for Five year Integrated Dual Degree Programmes of LLM (IP) – PhD Degree and LLM (IPR) – PhD Degree (Test code 620): This Aptitude Test for LLM (IP)- PhD Degree and LLM (IPR)comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test the proficiency in English (40 marks), General Knowledge (15 marks), General aptitude in Intellectual Property Law (20 marks), Analytical and Reasoning Ability (40 marks) and Aptitude to do Research (35 marks).
CUSAT CAT 2018 M Voc Mobile Phone Application Development Syllabus:
Test for M Voc Mobile Phone Application Development (Test Code 621): There shall be 150 objective type questions in the following pattern: 20% – Engineering Mathematics, 20% – Computer Science, 20% – Verbal and reading comprehension, 20% – Logical reasoning (based on pictures, geometrical figures, patterns of words, Number sequences, Set Theory, Logic decoding, reasoning etc., 20% – Programming aptitude
CUSAT CAT 2018 M Voc (Technology and Management Consulting) Syllabus:
Test for M Voc (Technology and Management Consulting) (Test Code 622): There shall be 150 objective type questions in the following pattern: 30% – Quantitative ability, 25% – Data interpretation and logical reasoning, 25% – Verbal and reading comprehension, 20% – Current affairs in technology and business
CUSAT CAT 2018 Mark Calculation Pattern:
The CAT score will be calculated as per the formula, S = 3R – 1W, where S is the CAT score, R is the number of right answers and W is the number of wrong answers. For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. In case of a tie, the existing University norms will be followed.
