When the National Medical Council was in place, complaints about doctors could be made directly to the public. Complaints rejected by the State Council may be appealed to the National Council within 60 days. However, with the coming into effect of the National Medical Commission in 2019, a rule (Section 30 (3) of the NMC Act) was introduced that only doctors can approach the commission directly with complaints.
