As part of the Kerala Legislative Assembly library’s centenary celebrations and the 75th year of India’s Independence, the Assembly International Book Fest will be held from November 28 to December 4. Speaker AN Shamseer said in a press conference that more than 150 stalls will be set up around the assembly complex. The timing of the exhibition is from 10 am to 8 pm.
All the book publishers of the state and leading publishers of national and international levels will participate. Book coupons will be made available to educational institutions and students through CSR fund or sponsorship of public and private institutions. A mechanism will also be set up for the purchase of books for the libraries of government educational institutions from the special development fund of the society.
There will be facility to purchase books at discounted prices to various educational and government institutions and libraries under the Library Council. Book Reading, Poetry Recitation, ‘Oru Katha Parayam’ (story-telling) competitions and cartoon competition will be conducted online.
Quiz will be organized for high school, higher secondary, college students and general section on the days of book festival. Sahitya Festival will also be held in three venues. Panel discussions, debates, seminars, vision task, book launch, meet the author, face-to-face, book signing, book reading etc. will be held with experts on various topics.
The media award will be introduced as part of the International Book Festival. Along with the book festival, facilities will also be provided for students and others to visit the assembly hall and the assembly museum.
