Actress Ragini Dwivedi has been arrested by the Bangalore Central Crime Branch in connection with a drug deal. He was arrested after being questioned in custody for eight hours. The actress was taken into custody for questioning after a raid on her flat in Yelahanka.
Her friend Ravi Shankar was arrested yesterday. More celebrities in Kannada cinema may be questioned. Actress Ragini Dwivedi was asked to extend her time to appear for questioning, but the Bangalore Central Crime Branch raided her flat on Friday morning after she refused. The actress tweeted on Sunday that the allegations were baseless and had nothing to do with the drunken mafia.
The Crime Branch has found that Ragini’s friend played a key role in the film’s celebrities’ relationship with the drunken mafia. Actress and model Sanjana Galrani has also been issued a notice to appear for questioning. It is learned that one of their aides has been arrested.
But this has not been confirmed by the crime branch. There are indications that a notice may be issued to 12 other prominent figures in the Kannada film industry asking them to appear for questioning. It is based on a revelation made by producer Indrajith Lankesh.
