All Shops Other than Shopping Malls Are permitted to Open In Rural Areas

NEW DELHI: The Home Ministry on Friday cleared the order on declining lockdown permitting shops to be opened. In rural areas, all shops other than shopping malls are permitted to open. This applies to shops that sell both essential and non-essential items.

Open to urban isolated shops, neighborhood shops, and residential complexes. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has clarified that the urban areas, market complexes and shopping malls should not be opened.

Online merchandising companies are permitted to supply only the essentials. The ministry said it would continue to do so. It is repeated that the sale of liquor and other substances is prohibited, as specified in the national directives to prevent the spread of Covid19.

At the same time, the central government has underscored the fact that neither the city nor the villages are allowed to open concessionary shops in areas where the state government or the Union Territory authorities have declared them as hotspots.
