The country is gearing up to raise the cost of phone calls. Bharti Airtel has decided to increase the rates on prepaid plans by 20 to 25 percent from Friday. This is the first increase in mobile phone rates in the country since December 2019.
Following the introduction of the rescue package for telecom companies, the central government has intervened to pave the way for the current tariff hike. Following Airtel, Vodafone Idea (V) and Reliance Jio will soon announce tariff hikes.
