Actor-politician Suresh Gopi MP has delivered on his promise of a new house for Kerala’s daughter-in-law from Assam, Munmi Gogoi. The actor reached their new house named ‘Sreelakshmi’ on Wednesday morning and lit the lamp to mark a new beginning.
Munmi, a native of Assam, had contested as the NDA candidate at ward no. 11 Vikas Nagar of Iritty Municipality. After knowing the plight of the family, Suresh Gopi offered to build a house for her. She and her husband Iritty native K N Sajesh and their two daughters were living in a one-room rented house in Oovappally. The couple moved here 8 years back.
The actor was also impressed and surprised when Munmi spoke in Malayalam and thanked him for his gesture.
A land was found by a team led by Hindu Aikya Vedi leader Vatsan Thillengeri
P Saleem donated land to build the house. Initially the house-warming ceremony was to be held on April 16, a day after Vishu, however, Suresh Gopi could not make it. Later he decided to visit the family on Wednesday.
