Will not bother official actions against protest, Joy Mathew

Director – actor Joy Mathew has come up with some strong statements against the charges levied by police against him. It was for conducting the silent protest at SM Street, which police filed charges against Joy Mathew. The protest was conducted in support of the nuns, who were protesting against the bishop. In line with the police charges, Joy Mathew visited Kozhikode Town station and carried off his protest, at where he left at SM Street. Though police maintained that Joy Mathew could easily get rid of the case by remitting a fine, he was reluctant to do so.

According to the officials, the case was charged for nothing but for violating the statute, which had declared SM Street a ‘protest free zone’. Mentioning that authorities were trying to wield their controlling hands on his freedom of expression, Joy Mathew however maintained that he was unaware of SM Street being declared ‘protest free zone’. The silent protest was attended by a number of social activists, which was staged on September 13th.
